

If you are on the House of Assembly electoral roll in respect of an address with the municipal area in which you wish to cast your vote at a Council election, you are automatically enrolled.
If you are not on the House of Assembly electoral roll in respect of an address which is within the municipal area in which you wish to cast your vote at a Council election, you must fill out a Local Government Electoral Enrolment form in order to be eligible to vote.
A person who is resident in one municipal area and is also an owner or occupier of land in one or more other municipal areas, is entitled to vote in an election in respect of those municipal areas. You must fill out a Local Government Electoral Enrolment form in order to be eligible to vote.
A corporate body which owns or occupies any land in a municipal area is entitled to nominate one person in any municipal area to vote on its behalf at an election in that municipal area.
Nominations to vote must be done by completing a Local Government Electoral Enrolment Corporate Body form, signed by the nominated person, and lodged with the general manager.
A corporate body may nominate only one person to vote on its behalf at an election in a municipal area regardless of whether it owns or occupies land in several locations in that municipal area.

2011 Local Government Elections
In 2011 Council elections are scheduled to be conducted on the following timetable.
Notice of election Saturday 10 September 2011
Close of electoral roles 6:00pm Thursday 15 September
Close of Nominations Noon Monday 26 September
Announcement of nominations Noon Tuesday 27 September
Polling period commences Tuesday 11 October 2011
Polling period ends 10:00am Tuesday 25 October
