Dorset Interim Planning Scheme 2013

The Dorset Interim Planning Scheme was gazetted and came into effect on 20 November 2013. The Scheme and the Zone and Overlay Maps can be viewed below:


Combined Permit and Amendment 1/2022 – Dorset Interim Planning Scheme 2013 – 1954 Bridport Road, Bridport and Bridport Road, Bridport (road reserve) - Rezoning and Application of a Site Specific Qualification  – 19 September 2022

The above combined permit and planning scheme amendment has been certified in accordance with section 35 of the former provisions of the Land Use Planning and Approvals Act 1993.

The amendment is to rezone 1954 Bridport Road, Bridport (Folio of the Register 235494/1) from Rural Living Zone to Rural Resource Zone; and to apply a site-specific qualification to land at Folio of the Register 235494/1 to provide unqualified Permitted use status for the following use classes;

  1. Storage;
  2. Vehicle Fuel Sales and Service; and
  3. Service Industry; and

A planning permit has been granted for the subdivision (1 lot into 2 lots) and construction of (i) self-storage compartments and ancillary caretakers residence, (ii) aircraft hangars, and (iii) service station and associated signage at 1954 Bridport Road, Bridport (Folio and the Register 235494/1) and Bridport Road, Bridport (road reserve) subject to conditions.

Combined Permit and Amendment Documentation

Representations may be made by any person in writing addressed to the General Manager, Dorset Council, PO Box 21, Scottsdale, Tasmania 7260, by no later than 5:00 pm on Tuesday 1 November 2022.

The Minister for Planning has issued Interim Planning Directive No. 4 – Exemptions, Application Requirements, Special Provisions and Zone Provisions in accordance with the recommendations of the Tasmanian Planning Commission. The interim planning directive came into effect on 22 February 2021 and implements a limited range of exemptions, application requirements, general provisions, and zone provisions from the State Planning Provisions (SPPs) into current interim planning schemes. The Minister for Planning issued a Planning Directive 5.1 Bushfire Areas Code which has modified E1.0 - Bushfire-Prone Areas Code on interim planning schemes to reflect the provisions of the revised Bushfire-Prone Areas Code.  This modification came into effect on 1 September 2017.  Please see documentation below outlining the changes that have occured.

Draft Amendment 1/2018 – Dorset Interim Planning Scheme 2013 – 6 Arnold Place Scottsdale and Hawkes Place Scottsdale Rezoning – 18 July 2018

The Tasmanian Planning Commission has approved the above draft amendment to rezone (i) 6 Arnold Place SCOTTSDALE (Certificate of Title 56108/6) and (ii) Hawkes Place SCOTTSDALE (Certificate of Title 9414/303) - both Council owned - from Open Space Zone to General Residential Zone.
