Join the Census Team

Every 5 years, the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) counts every person and household in Australia through the Census. Information from the Census helps governments, businesses and community groups plan for schools, health care, transport and infrastructure. The next Census is on Tuesday 11 August 2026. Everyone in Australia must be counted. We are hiring more than 30,000 people for the 2026 Census. We can’t do the Census without our temporary field workforce. They help collect the data that helps us all understand more about Australia and how it’s changing.
