Dorset residents will once again be offered the opportunity to have their car headlights checked out before winter really sets in.
The Dorset Community Road Safety Partnership today announced that a free headlight check and alignment service would be available on 3rd & 4th June at Barnett Motors, 21-23 George Street, Scottsdale.
In addition, valid health care card holders can receive a free 28 point safety check.
Dorset Community Services Manager Susie Bower said that this road safety initiative was designed to ensure drivers were as clearly visible as possible given the oncoming winter darkness.
“Community feedback provided to the Community and Police Advisory Group (CPAC) has been that action needed to be taken in this area.”
“Strong anecdotal evidence has suggested that many people have missing or misdirected lights on their vehicles which is a danger to themselves and other road users,” she said.
Ms Bower pointed out that the Community Road Safety Partnership is collaboration between Dorset Council and the Department of Infrastructure, Energy and Resources.
Motorists are advised that an adjustment and checking of lights is free but any necessary repairs would incur a cost.
“To limit waiting periods bookings are advised. To book ring Barnett Motors on 6352 2973” Ms Bower said.
