Customer Service Officer (Casual)

Dorset Council is seeking a reliable, adaptable and customer-focused individual to join our team in a casual capacity. This role provides front line customer service and administrative support across a range of Council functions and is suited to someone who enjoys working in a dynamic environment and can respond to changing operational needs.

About the role:

This is a genuinely casual position, with hours offered on an as-needed basis to support periods of staff leave, unplanned absences and peak period demands. The role requires a high level of flexibility and the ability to step in at short notice. Duties may include:

  • Providing friendly and professional customer service via phone, email, and in person
  • Responding to and directing enquiries appropriately
  • Processing payments and maintaining accurate records
  • Assisting with bookings, data entry, document management and general administration
  • Supporting other areas of the organisation as required

To be successful in this role, you will:

  • Demonstrate strong customer service skills with a professional and approachable manner
  • Have the ability to adapt quickly and work effectively in a changing environment
  • Be highly reliable, with a willingness to be available for shifts at short notice
  • Show initiative and possess sound administrative and organisational skills
  • Be comfortable using a range of computer systems and learning new processes

Previous experience in customer service or administration will be highly regarded.
