During 2022, the Health Consumers Tasmania Health and Wellbeing Networks Project commenced with consultation within the Dorset region on what were the health needs in the community. Health & Wellbeing Networks Project - Progress Report for Dorset
RAW builds mentally healthy and resilient rural communities to reduce the prevalence of suicide in people aged 14 years and above. RAW is a non -crisis service which provides practical and tangible interventions, to promote positive mental health, reduce stigma, address situational stressors and provide access to specialist support services for people who traditionally hesitant to ask for help.
The Cancer Council Outreach Service have a 4 weekly service at the Scottsdale LINC from 10 - 11 am on Tuesdays. Working to minimise the incidence and impact of cancer on all Tasmanians, through advocacy, raising awareness of cancer prevention and offering support and information for anyone affected by the disease. Contact the LINC on 03 6778 8586 to confirm the date of their next visit.
Positive Solutions offers family mediation and family counselling which can help families cope with separation and receive support. Family mediation can assist you and your ex-partner to reach mediated property, financial and/or parenting plans without having to go through a long, stressful and costly court process. Both family mediation and family counselling are based on an individual's income with concession rates available. Other services available include workplace and community mediation, individual counselling and employee assistance programs.
The Dorset Community House is the heart of Dorset. Its purpose is as a local community-led organisation that builds community capacity using a community development framework. The Dorset Community House offers educational courses and social activities for people within the community.
Dorset Council provides free "in-school" immunisation programs for school children. For further information regarding the school-based immunisation program please contact Council's Environmental Health Officer on 03 6352 6500 or click here to view the Department of Health & Human Services website.
Please note that private needle users, such as diabetics, can obtain sharps containers from Dorset Council at reduced rates.
