West Maurice Road Bridge Works | Complete

Public Notices

Works at Bridge 1541 West Maurice Road are now complete, with the road officially reopened to traffic.

West Maurice Road Bridge Works | Complete

The previous timber bridge, which had been reduced to a 10 tonne load limit due to defects, has been replaced with a new precast concrete structure designed for an 80 year lifespan.

The new bridge increases load capacity to approximately 160 tonnes, restoring full access for residents and permitted heavy vehicles.

The project was delivered safely, on time, and within budget by Council's Civil Construction team and contract partner BridgePro.

Thanks to the community for their patience during the works.

Council Decision

Council at its 16 February 2026 Council Meeting resolved to approved a variation to Council's 2025/26 Budget Estimates to allow for bridge renewal and upgrade works to enable the planned upgrade of Bridge 1541 to be brought forward to the 2025/26 financial year, from its original 2026/27 schedule under Council's Bridges Asset Management Plan.

In January 2026, the annual bridge inspection of Bridge 1541 (West Maurice Road) identified deterioration requiring the imposition of a reduced load limit based on the bridge’s assessed structural capacity. While load limits are a standard asset management measure and typically have minimal community impact, consultation undertaken in this instance indicates that continuation of the restrictions beyond April 2026 would result in significant commercial impacts on local agricultural operations.
