Human Resources Advisor

Dorset Council seeks a Human Resources Advisor to deliver HR support including recruitment, onboarding, workers compensation, injury management and organisational change.

About the role:

We are seeking a Full Time Human Resources Advisor who is excited to embrace organisational change, contribute to change initiatives, and work collaboratively to achieve Council's objectives.

The Human Resources Advisor provides advice and support to Dorset Council's managers and employees, while coordinating core human resources processes and supporting compliant, service-focused people practices across Council.

The position is responsible for coordinating a range of human resources activities, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, workforce administration, organisational change initiatives, workers compensation and injury management processes.

The role works closely with external stakeholders, including industrial and employee relations advisors, HR consultants, recruitment providers, training and leadership development providers, and local government networks.

 

About you:

The successful applicant will have the following:

- Demonstrated experience in coordination of end-to-end recruitment activities

- Experience supporting onboarding, induction and employee lifecycle processes

- Experience supporting managers with day-to-day employment matters, including probation, performance, conduct, leave, policy application and offboarding

- Experience preparing and maintaining compliant employment contracts, correspondence, position descriptions, templates and employee records and other employee lifecycle documentation

- Demonstrated experience interpreting Enterprise Agreements and providing advice to managers

- Experience coordinating Workers Compensation and Injury Management administrative processes, including liaison with internal and external stakeholders

- Demonstrated ability to organise and prioritise competing work demands and effectively monitor matters through to completion

- Ability to support implementation of new HR systems, tools and processes

- Experience supporting organisational change, including communication, coordination and implementation of new HR processes

- A solutions-focused, proactive and collaborative approach, with the ability to analyse issues and provide practical recommendations

- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills

- Demonstrated ability to maintain professionalism, confidentiality and handle sensitive matters

 

Essential Requirements:

- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, business or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience

- Minimum 3 years experience in a generalist HR role, including experience providing advice to managers on day-to-day employment matters

- Current driver’s license

 

Desirable:

- Experience working within a local government environment

- Current AHRI membership or eligibility for membership

- Training in workplace investigations, performance management or recruitment and selection

- Experience in improving HR templates, systems, checklists and processes

 

What’s on offer:

- A permanent full-time position with some flexibility to work from home once established within the role

- Annual Salary of $105,265 p.a. negotiable, plus 12% Superannuation

- Rostered Day Off Structure (work a 9 day fortnight or 19 day month)
