Briefing of Decisions made at the Council Meeting held on 20 July at the Council Chambers
Awarded Contract 2026/27-03: Supply and Delivery of Gravel for the 2026/27 road resheeting program to the preferred tenderer as recommended by the Tender Assessment Committee, in the Closed Session portion of the Meeting.
Received and noted the 2025/26 Annual Plan – June Final Report, with the General Manager acknowledging the significant contribution of Council employees, Councillors and community partners in delivering the priorities contained within the Plan.
Noted updates regarding Council’s Priority Projects.
Endorsed the development of a Scottsdale Masterplan.
Confirmed Council support for the Corkerys Road alignment as Council’s preferred option for the Tasman Highway Sideling Project, and requested the General Manager write to the Secretary of Building Tasmania - copying the Minister for Infrastructure – advising of Council’s position.
Noted the emergency motion adopted unanimously at the 2026 Australian Local Government Association National General Assembly seeking fairer and more sustainable Commonwealth funding for local government, and reaffirmed Council’s commitment to advocating for funding arrangements that enable local government to continue delivering the infrastructure and services communities rely upon while maintaining long-term financial sustainability.
Endorsed that Council become a member of the Bell Bay Advanced Manufacturing Zone for the 2026/27 financial year, with the General Manager authorised to complete the membership and include the $3,900 fee in the 2026/27 operating budget, with the Mayor and General Manager appointed as Council representatives, and the Deputy Mayor as proxy.
Endorsed participation in the Local Government Association of Tasmania Coastal Hazards Resilience Planning Project to improve understanding of coastal risks and climate change impacts across the municipality, authorised the General Manager to execute the required agreements, committed $10,000 in the 2027/28 budget along with in-kind staff resources, and noted that any future capital works, infrastructure investments or policy changes arising from the project will be brought back to Council for separate consideration. Participation in the project will also be incorporated into Council's Strategic Plan 2023–2032 and included in the 2026/27 Annual Plan.
Received and noted the Management Briefing Report which included a report from the General Manager on the 2026 Australian Local Government Association National General Assembly.
