Briefing of Decisions made at the Council Meeting held on 22 June at the Council Chambers 

  • By absolute majority, approved and adopted the 2026/27 Budget Estimates including a capital works program of $13.1 million including $1.9 million for plant and equipment purchases, $3.6 million for new and upgraded assets and $7.6 million for asset renewals. 

  • By absolute majority, authorised the General Manager to adjust any individual item within the operational or capital Budget Estimates by up to $50,000 as deemed necessary during the 2026/27 financial year, provided that the total operational and capital Budget Estimates remain unaltered, in accordance with the Local Government Act 1993.

  • Approved and adopted the Rates and Charges for 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2027 with a 6.5% increase to baseline general rate revenue. 

  • Received and noted a progress report on the Dorset Council Strategic Plan 2023 – 2032 and approved minor amendments to the Plan.

  • Adopted the 2026/27 Annual Plan.

  • Approved and adopted the Long Term Financial Plan 2027 – 2036.

  • Adopted the 2026/27 Fees and Charges Schedule.

  • Adopted revised Policy No. 42 – Rates and Charges.

  • Endorsed the recommendations of the Event Funding Panel and approved the following funding applications in 2026/27: Lions Clubs of Scottsdale – SpudFest ($10,000 + in-kind support), Blue Derby Foundation Ltd – Derby Fest ($5,000 + in-kind support), and Melaythenner Teeackana Warrana Aboriginal Corporation (MTWAC) – Mannalargenna Day Festival ($5,000).

  • Deferred further work on the 2025 Annual General Meeting motion relating to unconstructed and insufficiently constructed streets until further strategic township planning, and service level direction has been completed, at which time Council will be better placed to determine whether a broader assessment is warranted, what standard is being sought, and how any future program could be realistically prioritised and funded.

  • Endorsed development of a feasibility assessment for options regarding enclosing and year-round operations of the existing outdoor 25m pool at the Scottsdale Aquatic Centre.

  • Noted adjustments to the 2025/26 Capital Budget and the review of the Council Delegation Register in the Management Briefing Report.
