Council Awards Tender – Bituminous Sealing of Roads 2025/26 Capital Works Program

Announcements

Dorset Council has awarded the contract for the bituminous sealing of roads under the 2025/26 capital works program to northern Tasmanian company, Crossroads Civil Contracting Pty Ltd. The decision follows a tender process conducted in accordance with Council’s Policy - Code for Tenders and Contracts.

Council Awards Tender – Bituminous Sealing of Roads 2025/26 Capital Works Program

The annual sealing program is a key part of Council’s commitment to maintaining and upgrading the municipality’s road network. This year’s program will deliver a combination of resealing, partial resealing by segment, and targeted repair works across a selection of rural and urban roads, delivering safer and more resilient roads for all users.

The program will include works across a range of urban and rural roads, including the highway access off George Street, Spotswood Drive, Beattie Street, highway access off Ringarooma Road, Christopher Street, Mary Street and Alice Street in Scottsdale, Maurice Street, Legerwood, East Maurice Road and Barnett Road in Ringarooma, Oakdene Road, Jetsonville, Barnbougle Road, Bridport, Sykes Road, Springfield, Ruby Flats Road, Branxholm, Derby Back Road, Derby and Golconda Road, Nabowla.

Mayor Rhys Beattie said the program represented an important investment in local infrastructure, “Our road network is one of the most significant and visible assets that Council manages. Delivering this sealing program is critical to all sectors of our community. By continuing to invest in these works, we ensure safer, more reliable travel and protect the long-term value of our assets.”

Crossroads Civil Contracting brings over a decade of experience in spray sealing, including successful delivery of Dorset Council’s sealing programs over the past three years. The company has demonstrated the capability, resourcing, and management systems required to deliver the 2025/26 works to a high standard. Council looks forward to working with Crossroads Civil Contracting to deliver another successful program, ensuring the community benefits from maintained, safe, and durable roads.

Council also acknowledges the valuable contribution of the Australian Government through the Roads to Recovery Program, which will help fund these works and support the delivery of improved road infrastructure across the municipality.

Works are scheduled to commence in the coming months.
