Briefing of Decisions made at the Council Meeting held on 20 October at the Derby Town Hall

  • Held a meet and greet session prior to the Council Meeting for interested community members to meet and discuss general matters with Councillors and the Management Team.
  • Tabled the 2025 Local Government By-Election Certificate of Election issued by the Tasmanian Electoral Commission, dated 22 September and noted the Declaration of Office made by Councillor Anthony Richards on 14 October 2025.
  • Received and noted the Board of Inquiry Directions Quarterly Progress Report for the period 1 July to 30 September 2025.
  • Endorsed a Council submission in support of recommended amendments in relation to the Office of Local Government’s review of councillor numbers and allowances, which will be lodged with the Office of Local Government by 7 November 2025.
  • Received and noted the 2025/26 Annual Plan September Quarterly Report.
  • Endorsed the new Dorset Council Priority Projects Plan which will be provided to Australian and Statement Government representatives and departments, as well as industry stakeholders.
  • Adopted the revised Audit Panel Charter and new Audit Panel Code of Conduct.
  • Endorsed the distribution of $9,146 to the following community groups via Round 1 of the 2025/26 Small Grants Fund: Derby Community Development Association ($1,642), Nabowla Community Association ($2,000), Scottsdale Lawn Bowls Club ($1,775), Scottsdale Fire Brigade Social Club ($1,815), and Bridport Netball Club ($1,914).
  • Endorsed the distribution of $4,319 to the following community group via Round 1 of the 2025/26 Matching Grants Fund: Bridport Innovations Inc. ($4,319).
  • Endorsed the distribution of $6,730 to the following community groups via Round 1 of the 2025/26 Discretionary Grants Fund: Bridport Girl Guides ($1,310), and Lions Club of Scottsdale ($5,420).
  • Awarded Contract 2025/26-05 – Construction of Pier Support and Sheet Piling on Bridge 1508, over Ringarooma River, Garibaldi Road, Pioneer to the recommended tenderer in the Closed Session portion of the Meeting.
