In announcing the decision Dorset Mayor Rhys Beattie, said “The General Manager’s reappointment was a clear reflection of Councillors wanting to provide strong leadership and stability for Dorset. John has held a strong team together through the recent Board of Inquiry process, and this, along with his community first approach, were clear reasons for his reappointment.”
“We all look forward to working alongside John for the benefit of the Dorset community.”
In response to the decision, General Manager John Marik said, “I would like to thank the Councillors for their support, and I look forward to working with them for the betterment of the community.”
“I would like to acknowledge my team for all their hard work and assistance over the last few years. The team are fantastic at what they do and are passionate about their community.”
“I am extremely proud of working for the people of Dorset. My goal is to look after residents first and foremost and ensure Dorset continues to be the most desirable place to live in Tasmania.”
Mr Marik was appointed to the role of General Manager in December 2022 and prior to that, was Council’s Director – Corporate Services.
