The Commissioner, at a Closed Session Special Meeting of Council on 25 July 2024, considered the Board of Inquiry Report provided to Council by the Minister for Local Government on 4 July 2024.
The Commissioner said: “Council is grateful that the Minister extended the period for comment by 7 days due to the unavailability of key people during the initial 14-day period. The Council has today formally received and noted the Report. Over the last 21 days a submission relating to the findings and recommendations was prepared in collaboration with our legal advisor and today provided to the Minister.”
Council will not be making any further comment in relation to the Board of Inquiry Report to its submission until such time as the Minister makes a decision and provides a response in accordance with s225(2) of the Local Government Act 1993.
