Dorset Council has awarded the contract for its 2026/27 Bituminous Sealing of Roads Program to Launceston based contractor Quickseal Asphalting, following a competitive tender process at the 17 August 2026 Council Meeting.
The annual program forms part of Council’s ongoing commitment to maintaining and renewing its road network, with works including reseals, primer seals, two-coat seals and associated preparation works across sealed roads throughout the municipality.
Mayor Rhys Beattie said Council was pleased to appoint a northern Tasmania based contractor and looked forward to working with the company on the delivery of the program.
“Maintaining our road network is one of Council’s most important responsibilities, and this program plays a vital role in keeping our roads safe and serviceable for residents, businesses and visitors,” Mayor Beattie said.
Mayor Beattie said it was particularly pleasing to see a locally based company secure the contract.
“Quickseal is based in Launceston, and while this will be the company’s first road resealing contract of this nature, Council is confident in its ability to deliver a high-quality outcome for our community.”
“We look forward to working closely with Quickseal throughout the construction season and seeing the benefits of these works across our municipal road network.”
The tender assessment considered a range of criteria, including methodology, construction capability, workplace health and safety, previous experience and key personnel. Following the evaluation, Quickseal Asphalting was assessed as providing the best overall value for Council.
Mayor Beattie said the works align with Council’s commitment to responsible asset management and long-term infrastructure renewal.
“This program is about protecting and improving an important community asset. By undertaking timely resealing and maintenance works, we can extend the life of our roads and help reduce future maintenance requirements.”
The Bituminous Sealing Program supports Dorset Council’s Strategic Plan through the ongoing renewal and maintenance of transport infrastructure, improving road safety, serviceability and long-term asset performance.
Works are expected to be undertaken during the 2026/27 construction season. Council will provide advance notice of any temporary traffic impacts associated with the reseal program.
