Dorset Council Gets the Conversation Started with Funky Shirt Friday

Announcements

Dorset Council's Infrastructure team is bringing a little more colour to the workplace, and an important message, through the introduction of Funky Shirt Friday.

Dorset Council Gets the Conversation Started with Funky Shirt Friday

The team will now be wearing vibrant new work shirts supplied by TradeMutt, an Australian social-impact workwear organisation founded by tradies for tradies. Known for their bold and eye-catching designs, TradeMutt shirts are created with a purpose: to start conversations about mental health and wellbeing, particularly within blue-collar industries.

The concept is simple. The shirts attract attention, spark curiosity and create an opportunity for meaningful conversations that might not otherwise happen. By encouraging people to check in with one another, TradeMutt aims to break down the stigma surrounding mental health and remind everyone that it's okay to talk.

TradeMutt's impact extends beyond its workwear. The organisation donates 50 per cent of its profits to TIACS (This Is A Conversation Starter), a free and confidential mental health support service for tradies, truckies, farmers and other blue-collar workers across Australia.

As part of Dorset Council's commitment to fostering a positive and supportive workplace culture, the Infrastructure team will proudly wear their TradeMutt shirts each Friday.

So, if you see the team out and about in their colourful shirts, don't hesitate to stop for a chat. Sometimes a simple conversation can make all the difference.

Because every conversation matters.
