Grant funding will be utilised to construct recycling sheds at Gladstone and Branxholm Waste Transfer Stations, upgrade the waste oil collection shed at Scottsdale Waste Transfer Station and construct new waste oil collection sheds at both Branxholm and Gladstone Waste Transfer Stations.
This project was initiated as part of ongoing waste management strategies to reduce waste to landfill, maximise resource recovery and improve waste management practices across Dorset. The project follows on from the introduction of green waste processing in 2024 which was a priority project listed on Dorset Council’s 2023-2025 Priority Projects Plan.
The project will allow Council to recover additional resources at our outlying waste transfer stations and improve the collection of waste oil at all three of Dorset’s Waste Transfer Stations in line with best practice guidelines. “This project will enable us to expand our capabilities significantly and open up resource recovery options to the broader Dorset community” commented General Manager John Marik.
