Briefing of Decisions made at the Council Meeting held on 19 May 2025 at the Council Chambers, Scottsdale

  • Acknowledged the recent death of former General Manager, John Martin and his service to the north east.
  • Discussed an application for leave of absence from Councillor James Cashion and the reappointment of the General Manager in the closed session portion of the Ordinary Meeting.
  • Received the Council Quarterly Financial Report for the period ended 31 March 2025, and resolved by absolute majority to approve variations to the 2024/25 Budget Estimates, being $15,000 for additional legal fees, and $383,000 reduction in expected income from Financial Assistance Grants.
  • Received the Blue Derby Mountain Bike Trails quarterly report for the period ended 31 March 2025.
  • Received and noted two new operational policies addressing Board of Inquiry Directions 6, 8 and 9, which will be submitted to the Minister for Local Government by 23 May 2025.
  • Adopted fees and charges payable for animal management and food business registrations for the 2025/26 financial year.
  • Received and noted an update on the October 2022 and September 2024 storm events, and resolved by absolute majority to approve variations to the 2024/25 Budget Estimates, being $13,693 for unbudgeted operational costs, and $2,667 for unbudgeted capital costs, both associated with repair and recovery works attributed to the September 2024 storm event.
  • Received and noted the unconfirmed Dorset Audit Panel minutes, dated 8 April 2025 during the Management Briefing Report.
