Vandalism in Scottsdale | Rose Street Toilets Closed Until Further Notice

Public Notices

Dorset Council is disappointed to report another series of vandalism in Scottsdale.

Vandalism in Scottsdale | Rose Street Toilets Closed Until Further Notice

Last week, significant damage was caused to the newly renovated Children's Reserve public toilets. Following investigations, those responsible have since been identified. These facilities are now reopened to the public, with 2 unisex toilets available.

This morning Council staff discovered extensive vandalism and fire damage at the Rose Street toilets located at the Recreation Ground. As a result, the facility has been closed until further notice while safety inspections, damage assessments and costings are undertaken, followed by the necessary repair works. The vandalism has been reported to Tasmania Police, with an investigation underway and CCTV footage being reviewed.

These acts of vandalism are not victimless. They impact facilities relied upon by residents and visitors, place an unexpected burden on Council resources, and ultimately cost our community through repair and replacement expenses.

We ask anyone who witnesses suspicious behaviour around public facilities to report it to Tasmania Police.

Council thanks the community for its understanding and patience while we work to restore these facilities as quickly and safely as possible.
