West Maurice Road Bridge Works | Complete
Works at Bridge 1541 West Maurice Road are now complete, with the road officially reopened to traffic.
Dorset Council has approved funding for two community projects as part of Round 2 of its 2025/26 Community Grants Program. An additional $14,399 has been awarded across the Small Grants and Matching Grants funding streams, following the success of Round 1 earlier in the financial year.

Mayor Rhys Beattie advises that Council has recently completed the 2025 annual performance and remuneration review of the General Manager, with the outcome confirming strong performance and continued confidence in the organisation’s leadership.
Mayor Addresses Recent Vandalism in Public Facilities – Community Support Requested
Mayor Rhys Beattie today expressed deep concern over a recent rise in vandalism across several public toilets, reserves, and parks throughout the community.
Motorists are advised that due to deterioration of timber components, load limits will be applied to the following bridges from Thursday, 26 February 2026 until further notice.

DERBY DRIVES TASMANIA’S MOUNTAIN BIKE TOURISM BOOM
State Government urged to fund a Derby Masterplan and support maintenance of Tasmania’s mountain bike network following $50.9 million in direct annual visitor expenditure.

Dorset Community Grant Purchases New Wellbeing Packs for Scottsdale Fire Brigade
The Scottsdale Fire Brigade Social Club successfully obtained a 2025/26 Dorset Council Small Grant to purchase wellbeing packs, ready to grab and go in the event of an emergency.
