COMMUNITY UPDATE: Waste Transfer Stations Operating Hours Review
Council Officers recently undertook a review of operating hours of Council's Waste Transfer Stations, located at Scottsdale, Branxholm and Gladstone. This review took into consideration a number of factors including consistency of operating hours, work health and safety requirements, demand for service and community feedback.
Dorset Council has recently engaged with several interested community members who, after initial consultation made contact with Council with concerns regarding the proposed maintenance of the Avenue. Council is committed to careful and considered management of the trees and how to preserve the avenue’s significance for future generations.

Notice of Special Meeting of Council | 25 July 2024
A Special Meeting of Dorset Council will be held at the Council Chambers, 3 Ellenor Street, Scottsdale on Thursday, 25 July 2024 commencing at 2:00 pm.
Dorset Council was recently announced as one of just 7 councils across Australia to receive funding as part of Tranche 7 of the Heavy Vehicle Safety and Productivity Program.

It is with sadness that we learn of the passing of former Councillor Russell Brown.
Russell served as a Dorset Councillor from October 2011 until October 2014. Russell was a fierce advocate for his beloved Legerwood and surrounding area, was passionate about his community, provided considered feedback during debate and is remembered as a great story teller.
The Commissioner, Management and Staff pass on their condolences to Russell’s family and friends at this difficult time.
Council and Tasmania State Emergency Service sign three year Memorandum of Understanding
A new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed by Tasmania State Emergency Service (SES) and Dorset Council, with National Volunteer Week beginning yesterday.

This week, Australia celebrates its largest annual recognition of volunteers. It is an opportunity to highlight the important role of volunteers within the Dorset community.
Temporary Partial Road Closure – South Street, Bridport
Please be advised that access to South Street - from Main Street, and one lane of South Street, Bridport (town centre side) will be temporarily closed from 7am - Monday, 13 May 2024. This closure is to allow for the continuation of stormwater upgrade works in the area.

2024 Barry Jarvis Education Scholarship Recipients Announced
Yesterday, Commissioner Andrew Wardlaw announced the recipients of the 2024 Barry Jarvis Education Scholarships at a ceremony held at the Scottsdale Art Gallery Cafe.
TasWater | Bridport Residents Asked to Conserve Water
TasWater has issued a media release encouraging Bridport residents to continue water conservation efforts to help avoid any water restrictions in the community after the hot, dry summer conditions.
