2026 Barry Jarvis Education Scholarships | NOW OPEN
Dorset Council are seeking applications for the Barry Jarvis Education Scholarships. These scholarships have all been named in honour of the late Mayor Barry Jarvis, who was a strong advocate of education in Dorset.
Motorists are advised that Ferny Hill Road will be closed from 7:00am Monday, 13 April 2026 until 5:00pm Friday, 12 June 2026 to allow for landslip repair works.

Dorset Council has awarded the contract for the realignment of Ferny Hill Road at Golconda following significant damage caused by a landslip resulting from a major rain event in September 2024.
Dorset Council has approved funding for two community projects as part of Round 2 of its 2025/26 Community Grants Program. An additional $14,399 has been awarded across the Small Grants and Matching Grants funding streams, following the success of Round 1 earlier in the financial year.

Council Completes 2025 Annual Performance and Remuneration Review of General Manager
Mayor Rhys Beattie advises that Council has recently completed the 2025 annual performance and remuneration review of the General Manager, with the outcome confirming strong performance and continued confidence in the organisation’s leadership.
Mayor Addresses Recent Vandalism in Public Facilities – Community Support Requested
Mayor Rhys Beattie today expressed deep concern over a recent rise in vandalism across several public toilets, reserves, and parks throughout the community.
Every 5 years, the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) counts every person and
household in Australia through the Census. Information from the Census helps
governments, businesses and community groups plan for schools, health care, transport
and infrastructure.
The next Census is on Tuesday 11 August 2026. Everyone in Australia must be counted.
We are hiring more than 30,000 people for the 2026 Census. We can’t do the Census
without our temporary field workforce. They help collect the data that helps us all
understand more about Australia and how it’s changing.
Motorists are advised that due to deterioration of timber components, load limits will be applied to the following bridges from Thursday, 26 February 2026 until further notice.
